Świątkiewicz family

1. Laurentius Świątkiewicz and Konstancja Szadokierska. Laurentius was confirmed of noble origin by the Austrian imperial government in 1782. The process required that the applicant had to derive his pedigree on the basis of relevant documents, present the Coat of Arms (Bogoria), and certify in the same document that his ancestors lived in the territory of Rzeczpospolita for at least 150 years and owned ‘zemsky’ estates. His confirmation came from the Lviv Zemsky Court. More on this process, read here.

Laurentius and Konstancja had three known sons and a daughter:

  • Michał Stanisław Świątkiewicz (circa 1774 – 5 February 1837, Potylicz, Rawa Ruska), by marriage (married to Marianna Helena Sobotowska), he had an estate in Potylicz: near Rawa Ruska - 200 acres of land and 200 acres of forest and meadows. Legitimate owner of Potylicz and the surrounding villages of Dziewięcierz, Prusie, Wojtowszczyzna, Eisingen, plus Brzeziny and Bełżec. Their children: 
    • Konstancja (ca. 1814) married Wojciech Adam Borkowski (son of Józef and Anna Uszynska) on 11 April 1839 in Potylicz. Their children: Jan Stanisław (20 May 1836, Sambir, baptized 21 April 1840, Potylicz), Izydor Jarosław (4 April 1840, Potylicz-), Helena Anna Godesława (28 December 1841, Potylicz-), Jadwiga Wanda (ca. 1843-23 May 1844, Potylicz), Tadeusz Włodzimierz (ca. 1845-21 January 1849, Potylicz), Adam Jakub Władysław (25 June 1848, Potylicz-), Antonia Anna (6 April 1852, Potylicz-; married Gustaw Regenstein on 2 August 1879 in Potylicz); and Konstanty Michał (19 February 1858, Potylicz-).

    • Karol Boromeusz Jan Kanty (24 October 1822, Potylicz-)
    • Paulina Marianna (15 January 1824, Potylicz-) married Antoni Baumann (ca. 1810) on 16 April 1844 in Potylicz.
    • Walenty Julian (25 February 1827, Potylicz-) married Karolina Chmielowska. Their children: Maria Helena (29 May 1863, Zhovkva-5 September 1882, Potylicz); Paulina (ca. 1868-; married Julian August Dadlez, a medical doctor (16 February 1859, Żołkiew; song of Adolf and Matilda Höflich) on 14 July 1892 in Potylicz); and Józef (ca. 1874-24 September 1909, Potylicz; medical doctor in Lviv)

  • Antoni Świątkiewicz (circa 1776 – 21 November 1858, Lubaczów), see 2 below.
  • Marcin Świątkiewicz (circa 1788 – 13 December 1859, Potylicz, Rawa Ruska) married to Maria Anna Fostier (about 1809 - 27 Dec. 1844, Prusie). He was a tenant of an agricultural estate in Prusie, west of Rawa Ruska. Regarding this line, see a longer post on Facebook. Their children: 
    • Ludvina Helena (ca. 1834-) married Piotr Prawdzic Smarzewski on 18 February 1854 in Potylicz.
    • Jan Baptista Marceli (17 June 1835, Prusie-) married Adolfina Backhaus on 3 October 1861 in Olszanka.   • Anna Świątkiewicz married Mikolaj Neronowicz (Jelita coat of arms; b. about 1768-?). They lived in Berezhany. Their children:

2. Antoni Karol Świątkiewicz married Thecla Buczyńska (2 January 1782, Nawarja, near Pustomyty? (age of death given as 64) – 24 December 1835, Siedliska);  daughter of Kajetan Buczyński (about 1754 - 26 February 1821, Sokal) and Rozalia Wysocka). They were married on 16 February 1805 in Jatutów, Zamość district. He was a manager of various agricultural estates, primarily associated with Dziewięcierz, near Rawa Ruska. May have later moved to Żurawce. Their children:

  • Honorata Świątkiewicz (26 December 1806, Suszów, Telatyn (G-C Church) - ?; re-baptised 24 October 1822, Potylicz (R-C Church); married to 1) Jan Bazyli Zacharysiewicz on 10 November 1822 in Potylicz; they had daughters Aniela Sabina (2 August 1823) and Josepha Anna (8 September 1824, Potylicz) and 2) Jakub Jastrzębski; their daughter Paulina (b. ca. 1836).
  • Franciszka Świątkiewicz (21 February 1811, Oszczów, Hrubieszów district - ?)
  • Ludwik Świątkiewicz (15 August 1812, Novoselki, Yavoriv district (G-C Church) – 26 October 1886, Rawa Ruska); re-baptised 22 August 1826, Dziewięcierz, Rawa Ruska (R-C Church); married to Salomea Kuryłowicz), see 3 below.
  • Mikołaj Świątkiewicz (5 December 1815, Bojanice, Sokal district (G-C Church)- ?; re-baptised 22 August 1826, Dziewięcierz, Rawa Ruska (R-C Church); married to Michalina Cetwinska (ca. 1825-23 May 1878, Rawa Ruska; daughter of Antoni and Thecla Dunajewska (ca. 1795-5 September 1856, Rava Ruska)); of the Cetwinscy v. Cytwinscy h. Grzymała line). Mikołaj managed a porcelain and stoneware factory in Lubycza Królewska (see, history of the area and of the Jewish presence and manufacturing) and in Siedliska. Their children: 
    • Konstanty Leon (ca. 1847-) married 1) Józefa Rutkiewicz (ca. 1845-21 March 1879, Rawa Ruska; Paweł and Rozalia Lewandowska) on 3 June 1873 in Rawa Ruska. Their children Anton (10 June 1874, Rawa Ruska-; married to Francisczka Piskowska (Jan and Lucja Bartłomowicz) in Rawa Ruska, 1901-1910); Stanisława (5 May 1876-2 September 1877, Rawa Ruska), and Michalina Bronisława (13 June 1878-24 April 1880, Rawa Ruska). Konstanty took as his second wife 2) Julia Schleimiger (ca. 1856-16 May 1882; Mateusz and Thekla Podel). Their children: Jan (9 April 1880-7 March 1882, Rawa Ruska) and Józefa (13 March 1882-22 March 1882, Rawa Ruska). His third wife was 3) Maria Górska (11 February 1885 in Przemyśl). They married on 4 August 1883 and resided in Rawa Ruska. Their children: twins Franciszka (9 May 1884-15 May 1884, Rawa Ruska) and Stanisława (9 May 1884-25 May 1884, Rawa Ruska); Aleksander (18 December 1885, Rawa Ruska-); Jadwiga Maria (8 February 1888, Rawa Ruska-); and Władysław Mikołaj (1 December 1889, Rawa Ruska-); Mieczysław Ludwik ( (8 December 1891/12 August 1891-10 September 1893, Rawa Ruska); Wanda Władysława (9 May 1893/5 September 1893-6 January 1893/1June 1893, Rawa Ruska)
    • Miecislaus (Mieczysław) (29 Jan 1851, Wielkie Oczy-) was an administrator at Lviv University, married Michalina Clara Popowicz (ca. 1872-May 1897, Lviv) on 9 May 1896 in Lviv.

    • Wincenty (ca. 1858-27 January 1866, Rava Ruska).
  • Victoria Świątkiewicz (23 December 1818 (baptized 19 September 1830, Siedliska - ?); married to Antonius Erazm Ignacy Humiecki, b. ca. 1819 of Brody) on 9 February 1841 in Kochyn, Radekhiv district. Her father, Antoni, was serving as manager of the estate in Wróblaczyn (Vorobliachyn) at the time of her baptism in 1830.
  • Feliks Świątkiewicz (about 1819-1904, Wróblaczyn) was a forest manager in Lubaczow district. He married Anna Karolina Panesz (ca. 1830-21 November 1920, Wróblaczyn; dagutehr of Józef and Józefa Grecz). Their children: 
    • Ludovina Swiatkiewicz (ca. 1856, Horyniec, R-C) married Andrzej Czajkowski (ca. 1858, Rata, G-C), son of Jan and Ahapia Biłkorowicz, on 15 November 1881 in Rawa Ruska. Andrzej and Ludovina’s children: Volodymyr (25 September 1882, Zubkiv, Sokal district), Maria (8 July 1886, Lubycza-) and Helena Zofia (b. ca. 1892, Lypnyky, Mostyska district). Ludovina had a daughter outside of marriage, Franciszka, (1 October 1877-7 March 1879, Magierów)
    • Jadwiga (10 September 1858, Lubaczow-)
    • Tekla (15 September 1860, Lubaczow-)
    • Helena (28 July 1862, Shchyrets, Nemyriv parish, Rawa Ruska-) married Maciej Jania (ca. 1852, Łostówka, Mszana Dolna district, son of Szymon and Katarzyna Węglarz), a widower, on 5 September 1897 in Stary Dzików, Lubaczów district. Their son Kazimierz Marceli was born 28 February 1898 in Stary Dzików, Lubaczów district. He was an officer in the Polish Army living in Krakow in the 1930s. He served in the Sappers Battalion as a captain.

  • Ludvina Waleria Świątkiewicz (16 April 1822, Nemyriv (R-C Church), Rava Ruska district - ?) married the widower Antonius Mantuani (ca. 1809) on 27 Oct. 1844 in Potylicz. Mantuani was the owner of a porcelain factory. The area around Potylicz was an important center of pottery as it was rich in deposits of clay and Miocene loam. It provided Galicians with simple decorate household products, later it produced more beautiful and, above all, more valuable faience and porcelain. The manufacturers received investments of wealthy magnate families (Radziwiłł, Zamoyski, Jabłonowski), but also simple landowners (Zieliński, Świątkiewicz, Nikorowicz).   • Pawel Świątkiewicz (? - ?) married to Petronela Hoffman (ca. 1825-25 April 1867, Ivanivka (Janówka; today Pidhorodne, daughter of Józef and Anna Kiel). Their children: Michalina (7 April 1846, Magierow, Rawa Ruska district-); Wacław (ca. 1847-17 August 1848, Kamionka Wołoska, Rawa Ruska district); Jan (27 October 1849, Magierow, Rawa Ruska district-); Wiktor (28 February 1854, Siedliska-); Wincenty (1859-6 December 1859, Lubaczow); Wilhelm (7 April 1859-1 October 1860, Lubaczow); Waleria (15 December 1861, Lubaczow-); Marianna (ca. 1866-8 April 1867, Janówka (today Pidhorodne, Ternopil district)-)

 

3. Ludwik Świątkiewicz married Salomea Kuryłowicz (ca. 1818-9 March 1883, Rata, Rawa Ruska district; daughter of Rev. Ignatij Kuryłowicz (ca. 1774-1837; G-C priest in Szczerzec, 1828-1837) and Anna Sadlowicz, c. 1773, Ruda Manastyrska)). They (my great-great-great grandparents) had at least five children:

  • Jan Swiątkiewicz (ca. 1837 - 14 September 1889, Rawa Ruska) married to Barbara Jankiewicz (Jan and Elizabeth Bitner)). Their children: 
    • Alexandra (28 February 1862, Kamionka Wołoska-)
    • Antonina (ca. 1863, Kurów-) married Franciszek Bizanc (ca. 1859) on 24 November 1889 in Rawa Ruska.
    • Franciszka Józefa (11 February 1865, Nowe Sioło, Cieszanow district-) married Franciszek Ksawery Lipert (ca. 1860) on 29 June 1889 in Rawa Ruska.
    • Elżbieta (ca. 1866-16 January 1882, Rawa Ruska).
  • Karol Świątkiewicz (26 January 1843 in Zaborze, Rawa Ruska – 9 April 1890, Rawa Ruska) married Rosalia Łacimirska (28 Aug. 1837, Petryków, Tarnopol district - ?; daughter of Kazimierz and Antonina Petrokońska) on 30 May 1867 in Ternopil. He was a soldier from the Ulan legion, 13th regiment. Their children:

  • Ludovica Swiątkiewicz (b. Rava Ruska; married to Ferdinandus Wowkonowicz). Lived in Mechyshchivska (Mieczyszczyn), Berezhany district in the 1870s. Their children: 
  • Kazimierz Klemens Świątkiewicz (23 November 1855, Dyniska, Ulhówek, Tomaszów Lubelski district – 10 March 1867, Rata, Rawa Ruska district).

4. Władysław Świątkiewicz and Józefa Lityńska (daughter of Jan Lityński (son of GC Rev. Basil Lityński, 1789-28 October 1878; priest in Kozova, Berezhany district from 1832-1878) and Anna Barusiewicz, 1799-1839/1852 (daughter of a GC priest)) and Domicela Tyszecka (Anton Tyszecki)) lived, by evidence of their names appearing in the sacramental records, at least in 1887-1890 in Polove, near Radekhiv, and in the years 1891-1892, 1895 and 1897-1898 in Pobużany, near Busk, where he worked as an administrator (oeconom). They had the following children:

  • Leontina Świątkiewicz, my great grandmother (about 1878 - 17 May 1946, Dobromyl, Sambir district; married Ivan Koczyrkiewicz (about 1875, Ostrożec, Mościska district - 31 November 1941, Nehrybka; teacher; visited the U.S. in 1905). They were probably married circa 1902 in the Sambir region, the town of Rakova, where Ivan was teaching. Their first daughter was born on 23 April 1903.   • Agenor Świątkiewicz (26 July 1887, baptized in the Greek-Catholic rite, recorded in the Roman-Catholic parish in Polove, near Radekhiv – 24 Dec. 1903, Lviv). At the time of his death the family resided Lviv, 9 ul. Pelczyńska. 
  • Stephania Świątkiewicz (31 July 1890, baptized in the Greek-Catholic parish in Polove, near Radekhiv - ?; married Oleksandr Łonkiewicz (about 1888-about 1942, Strzeliska Nowe; priest and teacher, son of Rev. Ipolit Lonkiewicz and Teodozia Faciewicz. Their children: 
    • Roman Marko Łonkiewicz (27 Aug. 1920 – 6 Oct. 1920, Strzeliska Nowe)
    • Maria (12 May 1924, Mełna, Rohatyn district – 20 June 2014, Lviv) married Oleksandr Pateryha (1 March 1917-28 June 1979)
  • Stanisława Świątkiewicz (24 September 1892, baptized in the Greek-Catholic parish in Pobużany, near Busk -?). At the time her father Władysław was an administrator there. She married Józef Pszczoła on 3 June 1925 at the Roman-Catholic parish of św. Antoni in Lviv. They were both age 32 and living in Jahłusz, where Józef worked as a forester. A Maryan Świątkiewicz was one of the witnesses (probably a cousin).

  • Kazimiera Świątkiewicz (?-?, Kraków); died as a young woman from a broken heart or suicide, according to family recollections.
  • Romuald Świątkiewicz (7 March 1898, baptized in the Greek-Catholic parish in Pobużany, near Busk – 15 May 1984, Nowa Ruda). Passed his forestry exam in Lviv in 1923; lived near Turka-Sambir area before WWII (Zvir, 20 km south of Sambir), then relocated to Nowa Ruda. He married Eugenija (Honasiewicz?, 02 Mar. 1915 – 15 Sep. 1994, Nowa Ruda). Their children:
